Fiberclay planter care and use guide

Fiberclay planters need little care. Follow a few simple rules and your planter keeps its look and strength for years.

Cleaning

Wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn marks use mild soapy water and rinse. Abrasive sponges, wire brushes and harsh chemicals such as bleach can damage the texture.

Planting

  • Add a gravel or drainage layer and keep the drainage hole clear.
  • Do not fill soil to the rim; leave a few centimetres for watering.
  • Put large planters in their final place before planting.

Winter and outdoor use

Fiberclay resists frost, but water freezing inside any planter can cause damage. In winter, make sure drainage works and raise the planter slightly off the ground.

Moving

Lift large sizes by the body, not the rim. Move planters empty where possible; a planted, watered planter is much heavier than it looks. Dragging can wear the base.

Indoors

Use a saucer to protect floors. An inner pot makes watering and changing plants easier.
